The Legend of Crying Stone

Once upon a time, in a small village in Borneo, there lived a poor widow and her beautiful daughter. The daughter was very spoiled and lazy. She never helped her mother work in the field. She also loved dressing up and looking at the mirror all day.

One day, they went to the market. The daughter wore beautiful clothes, while the mother wore old, dirty clothes. Walking behind her daughter, the mother carried a heavy basket. On the way, a man asked the girl, "Who is the old woman behind you? Is she your mother?" The daughter quickly replied, "No, she is not my mother. She is my servant!"

The mother was deeply hurt. She could not bear the pain anymore. She prayed to God, "Oh God, please punish this ungrateful child." Suddenly, the girl's legs started to turn into stone. The girl cried out, "Mother, please forgive me!" But it was too late. Her whole body finally turned into a stone that kept crying.
