There once was a speedy Hare who bragged about how fast he could run. Tired of hearing him boast, a slow Tortoise challenged him to a race. All the animals in the forest gathered to watch. The race started, and the Hare easily ran far ahead. Feeling very confident, the Hare decided to stop and take a short nap under a shady tree near the finish line, thinking, "The Tortoise is so slow, I can sleep and still win easily."

Meanwhile, the Tortoise never stopped walking. He took one slow step after another, moving steadily forward. While the Hare was fast asleep, the Tortoise quietly passed him. When the Hare finally woke up, he looked around and saw the Tortoise was just a few inches from the finish line. The Hare ran as fast as he could, but it was too late. The Tortoise crossed the line first and won the race.
