Dubai Port World Optimistic that KEK Tanjung Api Api Will Succeed

SRIPOKU.COM, PALEMBANG - The team from Dubai Port World stated that they were optimistic that the KEK TAA (Kawasan Ekonomi Khusus/Special Economic Zones of Tanjung Api-Api) will succeed.

After their visit to KEK TAA and Tanjung Carat, South Sumatera, they decided to do some follow-up comprehensively related to the investment and development of KEK TAA.

The team of Dubai Port World also has a wide idea related to the potential of investation to KEK TAA, through a discussion with the provincial government of South Sumatera.

During the discussion, they were discussing about the development plan of a port in Tanjung Carat, the development of KEK TAA, a highway construction of Palembang-TAA, and also the river flow’s management plan of Musi River.

The Senior Vice President Economic Zones World of Team Dubai, Adil Al Zarooni told about their experience while building the economic zones and ports of Jebel Ali, that had a worst condition than KEK TAA.

“We were once do not have the resources, the commodity, unfavorable access because it is located in the bay and we were low on financial factor. But with courage, we finally succeded in building KEK Jebel Ali,” Adil said, during the discussion in Griya Agung Palembang.

The Team of Dubai Port World, who attended the discussion consists of Adil Al Zarooni (Senior Vice President Economic Zones World), Kris Chang (Vice President Business Development Dubai Port World Asia Pacific), William Khoory (Vice President Dubai Port World Terminal Petikemas Surabaya), Chris Young (Senior Manager Business Development Dubai Port World head Office), and Muhammad Fathoni (Project Engineer/Technical Expert).

Adil said that with its current condition, he was sure that KEK TAA will succeed, coupled with the support from the government.

“I am relieved that all of this effort was fully supported by the government, not only from the local government, but also from the central government of Indonesia,” Adil said.

The governor of South Sumatera, Ir. H. Alex Noerdin SH said that the visit from the Dubai Port World Team was the third time, and there have been many significant advances.

After doing some analysis, the team will return to South Sumatera to proceed to the next step.

Alex said “This is not a joke, it’s a big project and must be done as soon as possible. It’s not that easy, but rest assured that South Sumatera has a high spirit to move forward than any other provinces in Indonesia.”

During the occasion, Alex also invited all of the SKPD around the provincial government of South Sumatera to give their full support to the development of KEK TAA, by giving maximum performance to make this plan succeed. (Sadam Husen)
